Hey guys, my username is rockismyreligion. I recently rejoined this forum because I used to play C&C Renegade and still own many of the old Westwood titles. This is my first noob posting. However, this noob is a user found at GameTableOnline.com, and I chose the game section 'Real Life' to decribe this situation that I was involved in today in the active GTO Gathering Place. I'm sorry if this doesn't belong, but I do feel that some of you may get a laugh out of it, and I really need to vent. Unfortunately, Crimson, or whoever continues to still admin this site does not have an "other" section that was obvious to me.
The game in question at GTO is a web-based java version of Axis & Allies. If any of you are interested in trying it, I highly recommend joining.
Anyway, as per the story about this noob: Neworldorder kept going on and on about how he was such a good player, and how his win % was among the top users in the site, and how he could beat anyone, yadda yadda, you get the idea.
Well, after attempting to call me and some of my friends out who have significantly better records than he does (his win percentage is about 2-1: 28 wins vs. 13 losses), he tells us that he only plays people with less than 50 games under their belt after claiming that he only played with the best players. The most advanced players, many of whom I am friends with on the site, have better than 100-200 games under our belts. I asked him what players he said he played, and he didn't give me any names. After changing his story regarding whom he plays, we all bust him for being a mediocre player who probably just beat lesser, newer players. In an effort to prove himself, he offered a 1v1 "title game," which none such exists unless a tourney is hosted (which this game would be unaffiliated with). We all criticize him for his ego, and one of the site mods tells us about his egotisitic streak on the site. He then offers a 2v1 (1 being himself), and backpedals for roughly 20 minutes.
Finally, a friend and I decide to shut his trap. He hosts a table which the both of us join. I told him and my friend I was going to the bathroom before the game started, and came back before the allotted time I said I would be gone had elapsed. You know where I found myself onscreen? BOOTED OUT OF THE GAME TABLE! He dodged the challenge. My friend, ronsdoc, was in game with him. Another friend of mine had this particular buddy on the phone, and asked him why i was booted out, and he said that neworldorder gave no answer. Another 5 minutes later, I left a kudos on his profile criticizing him and calling him out for being a hypocrite. Bear in mind, we have to actually PAY, USING PAYPAL, to get GTO coins to use in writing players kudos - with his probably being the only negative one I'll ever leave. Another minute later and I notice that he has completely logged off of the game table java launch window known as the Gathering Place as I stated above. He deliberately disconnected from the game with my friend so he wouldn't take a loss on his record and disappered to avoid further backlash for being a total dolt and waste of a site user.
To sum it up, the noob calls us out, we demand he show his cards, and like someone booting you from Renegade to take your tank while in the open field, he dodges the "strong" challenge he claimed he'd take and then avoids taking the loss by probably bringing up his task manager and hitting 'End Process' for the GTO applications he's running.
I again apologize for being out of category. Readers, thanks for your time.
