Hosting a stable, secure IRC network can come with some challenges. One of those is wanna be script kiddies who think that because they found a proxy they are above the rules. Sadly, a very small group want to ruine it for the rest of us. Some times this involves a little creativity on our end to make sure they stay out. After all, we all want a fun place to hang out that is twat free.
A while back I wrote and deployed a script that constantly scans for breaches in our security. Over time it has grown and become more complex. This script is not a perfect science - some times we get false positives. I know this is frustrating but please try to understand it was not intentional and a necessary part of keeping the gears turning here at n00bstories. 99.9% of the time I need to make a simple adjustment and were good to go.
Here is what you're looking for. If you receive a ban message that reads "ohai <aplayernotyouhere>" (and you are not that person) you have fallen victim. Please feel free to make a thread or get in touch with Crimson/luv2pb/andr3w282. We will remove the ban and I will make the necessary adjustments as soon as possible. However, if you are that person than please get bent.
If you receive the ban message "no evade for j00 <yournamehere>" than our security thinks you are trying to evade a previous ban. It is a measure to prevent a specific exploit but can cause problems at times. If this happens there is an adjustment I have to make on my end. Again, feel free to make a thread or get in touch with Crimson/luv2pb/andr3w282. We will remove the ban and I will make the necessary adjustments as soon as possible.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding in the matter. Thanks for hanging out with us!
