Last week. [message #193401]

Last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. As our passion began to heat up she said, "I don't feel like it. I just want you to hold me." I said, "WHAT?! What was that?!" She said, "You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man." She responde...d to my puzzled look by saying, "Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?" Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep. The next day I took off of work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big department store. I walked around with her as she tried on several very expensive outfits. She couldn't decide which one to take, so I told her we'd just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to go with her new clothes, so I said, "Lets get a pair for each outfit." We went on to the j3welry counter where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. She was so excited. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet. I threw her for a loop when I said, "That's fine, honey." She was nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally said, "I think this is all dear, let's go to the cashier." I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, "No baby, I don't feel like it." Her face went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled, "WHAT?" I said, "Honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman." Just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, "Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?" Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either... but at least she knows I'm smarter than her.

Dont know if anyone watched the two new episodes yesterday( I watched them today online as I live in the U.K) but the usual Futurama intro caption had the picture of Frys face that has become synonymous with 'not sure if serious' but instead had 'not sure if new episode or rerun of one watched while drunk'
I know this forum uses it a lot so thought it was funny!
Anyone watch the new eps?

After going through a virus attack,
Losing a hard drive,
Fighting off hackers,
Upgrading all my software,
Installing fire-walls,
Being threatened with being cut-off by my email provider,
And a host of other problems...
I have fixed my computer...
And NOW it works exactly the way I want it to!

I don't care if you lick windows,
Take the special bus
Or occasionally pee on yourself...
You hang in there sunshine,
You're friggin' special.
This was an email I received and decided to share with all you here...

Rogue toolbars phish for Facebook credentials [message #171696]

Two rogue toolbars have been spotted in the wild by Sunbelt researchers.
At first glance, they look legitimate enough. Purportedly enabling the user to cheat at popular Zynga games on Facebook, they contain various links and other teature usual for this kind of tool. Upon closer inspection, the toolbar is revealed to be a tool used to steal login credentials. If the user clicks on the "Facebook" button in the left top corner, he is taken to a Facebook look-alike phishing page: The domain on which the phishing page is hosted is constantly changing because in time every domai gets reported, detected and blocked by the browsers.
The problem is that the toolbars - when they are not pointing towards the phishing page - point to the real Facebook URL, and the switch can happen anytime. It is best to distrust "cheating" toolbars altogether, and access Facebook and other networks and services by typing in the URL yourself or following your own bookmark.

Part of Windows 7 success was undoubtedly related to the extensive pre-release program that Microsoft had in operation prior to the official release of the RTM on the 22nd October 2009. The Windows 7 Beta 1 was released back in January of 2009 and began shutting down every 2 hours from the 2nd of July.
The Windows 7 RC 1 was then released in May of 2009 and there was an unlimited number of licenses available to the public so they could download and try out Windows 7 for themselves. We all knew that the Windows 7 Release Candidate ( Build 7100 ) was going to suffer the same fate as the Beta builds, so a month from today, the 1st of March, the Windows 7 RC 1 will begin shutting down automatically every 2 hours.

Apple's much hyped iPad tablet may come tightly locked down but the device is still likely to be affected by many of the security issues that affect the iPhone, as well as some of its own.
Security experts polled by The Register were concerned about a variety of risks, in particular phishing attacks and browser exploits.
The senior technology consultant at Sophos commented: "The iPad, from the sound of things, will be as locked down as the iPhone. Hackers will no doubt try to jailbreak it.
But the main threat would be phishing and browser exploits." Malware related risks may also trouble the iPad. The only risks to affect the iPhone to date have relied on a very small but well publicised number of threats that exploited default passwords and open SSH shells on jailbroken iPhones.
However, while the iPad uses the same OS as the iPhone, it is more powerful; that means attacks based on doctored PDF files may potentially become a risk, explained a technical director of PandaLabs.

According to researchers at Kaspersky Lab, cybercriminals are trying to sell hacked Twitter user names and passwords on-line for hundreds of dollars.
Since 2005, the bad guys have been developing new data-stealing malware that is now a growing problem on the Internet. Some of these programs look for banking passwords, others hunt for on-line gaming credentials. But the fastest-growing data stealers are generic spying programs that try to steal as much information as possible from their victims, said a Kaspersky researcher, speaking at a press event on January 29. In 2009,
Kaspersky identified about 70,000 of these programs — twice as many as the year before, and close to three times the number of banking password stealing programs.
They are popular because criminals are starting to realize that they can do better than simply swiping credit card numbers. The researcher has seen Gmail accounts for sale on Russian hacker forums, (asking price 2,500 roubles, or $82)
RapidShare accounts going for $5 per month, as well as Skype, instant messaging and Facebook credentials being offered.
Asking prices can vary greatly, depending on the name of the account and the number of followers, but attackers are looking for an initial, trusted, stepping stone from which to send malicious Twitter messages and, ideally, infect more machines.

Intel Releases Details of New Processors [message #168602]
Thu, 24 December 2009 09:28 |

Intel today released a few official details about some of what it intends to unveil at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas the first week of January.
The 17 new processors Intel plans to introduce will extend the Nehalem microarchitecture through the desktop and laptop PC lines, with the Core i3 CPUs the new entry-level family, and Core i5 christened as the midrange. Core i7 will remain the high-end CPU option.
The Core i5 CPUs will support Turbo Boost, which allows for dynamically overclocking the CPU's clock speed if there's the proper headroom to do so, and Hyper-Threading, the ability to run more than one thread per core, for increased performance
Also of particular note is that the Core i3 and Core i5 processors will contain Intel HD Graphics—the first time Intel has included integrated graphics on the processor instead of in a separate chip. (Core i7 CPUs, intended more for gamers and enthusiasts who will need or want discrete graphics, will not include integrated video.) The new graphics capabilities can decode two HD streams in hardware.

Microsoft launched a pilot test program for an online tech-support forum that will be staffed by paid "independent experts."
News of the pilot was first reported by Manan Kakkar, a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) and blogger, who noted that the pilot is for a site currently known as "TechSupport Marketplace."
TechSupport Marketplace is a new Microsoft site that will bring together "Customers who are having a problem and independent Experts with the skills and ability to troubleshoot and help resolve those problems. In return for helping Customers with their computer problems in a one on one manner, the Experts earn some money directly from the Customer they are helping,"

Potent malware link infects almost 300,000 webpages [message #168181]

A security researcher has identified a new attack that has infected almost 300,000 webpages with links that direct visitors to a potent cocktail of malicious exploits.
The SQL injection attacks started in late November and appear to be the work of a relatively new malware gang, said Mary Landesman, a researcher with ScanSafe, a web security firm recently acquired by Cisco Systems. Hacked sites contain an invisible iframe that silently redirects users to 318x .com (a space has been added to protect the clueless), which goes on to exploit known vulnerabilities in at least five applications.

When you receive an update, you naturally expect that update to remove old code from your system, especially where that code is vulnerable. It seems that the latest release of Google Chrome broke this simple rule.
